About the Bibliography
Overview
The Icelandic National Bibliography is published online by the National and University Library of Iceland. Initially, it is a record of the nation's publishing output from 1999 and is based on information contained in the Icelandic library system Gegnir. The bibliography is dynamic in the sense that a revised edition will appear regularly displaying information from Gegnir at the time of last update.
Works published in Iceland are included in the Icelandic National Bibliography as follows:
- Printed material; e.g. books and booklets (5 pages or more), maps, new journals and newspapers. Certain classes of material are not included for the time being; for details, see sjá nánar Exclusion Policy.
- Sound recordings; e.g. musical sound recordings, audio books.
- Multiple format publications; e.g. book + audio cassette.
Other categories of material, e.g. sheet music and visual material are catalogued in Gegnir and may be included in the bibliography later on.
Bibliographic record for The Icelandic National Bibliography is on leitir.is, ISSN: 1670-715X.
